We believe that to get the best from our food we should cook with the seasons and the produce we have available, locally farmed and from the wild. We use a nose-to-tail approach to ensure that as little as possible of the animal is wasted. Garlic wood farm supply rare breed meat that maintains wildlife habitats and helps to increase biodiversity.

*Please note, for Sunday bookings we offer a 2 hour slot. If you’re booking after 12pm on the day you wish to reserve or when your desired reservation is within the next few hours, your booking may not have been processed in time so please call to confirm first, to avoid disappointment. No bookings are guaranteed until a confirmation has been received!

We are also asking for a £5 deposit per person for all Sunday bookings till further notice. We have noticed a rise of no shows and due to lower capacity and Goverment measures to support the fight against Covid-19 as a small business no shows really affect our business. As a small local pub it is harder for us to fill a table at the last minute and after turning away booking requests as we are fully booked it is upsetting to then have bookings not show up. Your deposit will be taken off your final bill on the day. Many thanks to all our customers in your continued support during these testing times.

Exceptional Quality

Saddlescombe farm bring exceptional quality mutton from just North of Brighton. Fin and farm, source fresh local fruit, vegetables and eggs straight from the farm to the kitchen. Forager search the fields and hedgerows to supply wild plants, mushrooms and fruits from the hedgerows and our fish is landed either at Shoreham or Newhaven.

At the Chimney House expect a modern twist on old classics highlighting the forgotten flavours of our hedgerows. Our Sunday roasts are popular with locals and visitors alike and The Chimney House continues to develop an exceptional reputation for its food.
